We are just about to distribute a new program here in Maine to improve safety, liability exposure, and hope to make our many volunteer groomer operators a bit more aware of their surrondings to be more efficient. As I have heard from IASA trail administrators, there have been a few issues with groomer operators from time to time. We also have had a few close calls here. In fact a collision between a drunk snowmobiler and a volunteer operated groomer moved this project along. Since we don't have staff enough to give hands on or face to face training we chose to develop a DVD following IASA Guidelines manuel to be sent to every club. Not manadatory but if they want to be recognized as "certified" we (state) retain the 62 question test scoring and distributing an authorization certificate. if anyone is interested in recieving a copy of this program contact me. I should have them in hand in two weeks. contractor willing to modify for any state/province specific if you want a similar product in your jurisdiction.
